Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani officially inaugurated the Arabic Artificial Intelligence Large Language Model, named Fanar, during the opening ceremony of the World Summit AI. The event was held at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, marking a significant milestone for Qatar’s advancements in artificial intelligence.
The summit was organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. It brought together a distinguished audience. Ministers, senior officials, and AI experts from Qatar and abroad attended, emphasizing the global importance of this initiative.
Fanar showcases Qatar’s dedication to advancing the Arabic language and promoting Arabic and Islamic culture in the rapidly evolving AI era. This innovative model was developed through a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and Hamad Bin Khalifa University, which is part of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development.
The summit revolved around the theme, ‘Putting Humanity at the Heart of AI,’ addressing crucial topics in artificial intelligence. Discussions highlighted four key areas: responsible governance of AI, the transformative potential of generative AI, accelerating AI adoption across sectors, and the integration of AI technologies into daily human life.
