The Higher Organising Committee of the Qatar Economic Forum (QEF) has announced the launch date of the third edition, which will take place between May 23 and 25, 2023, and will highlight the rising global economy in the southern part of the world, as well as the new growth opportunities it offers to the global business community. According to the organiser, Qatar Economic Forum, powered by Bloomberg, will address the latest economic trends that will lead to a new global growth story and promote established perspectives and emerging voices from around the world.
His Excellency Sheikh Ali bin Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chairman of the Higher Standing Organising Committee of the Qatar Economic Forum and CEO of Media City, commented during an interview with QNA on the nature of the forum and the topics that will be addressed in the 2023 edition: “The FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar and sports were key items on the agenda for the second edition of the forum last July, with discussions focusing on the economic and social impacts of the tournament and hearing from Experts and decision-makers in the field such as H.E. Hassan Al Thawadi, Secretary General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, and FIFA President Gianni Infantino, where both emphasised the long-term growth sport brings to societies and economies.”
He stated that with the successful conclusion of this tournament, there are better conclusions than last June, that the post-tournament phase will allow drawing the world’s attention to the country’s development plans and economic diversification, and that at the local level, our focus will be on economic development and diversification plans that anticipate future needs, and that the forum will provide an opportunity to review our common goals and challenges with regional and global participants.
He continued to say that the Qatar Economic Forum evolved into a media platform with a diversified agenda that brings together global entrepreneurs to formulate meaningful initiatives towards economic growth. He added: “With the help of a group of distinguished speakers, such as Sebastian Bazan, Chairman and CEO of Accor, and Steven Mnuchin, former Secretary of Finance of the United States of America, Strayeve Masionia, Founder and CEO of Liquid Intelligence Technologies, Pier Paolo Parisi, Founder and CEO of Ula, and Peter Mendelssohn, Co-Founder and Chairman of Global Council, the forum has been able to achieve this goal in each edition, and today it has become an oasis for dialogue and exchange insights and perspective, and the 2023 edition will expand on the success of the previous edition.”
The Chairman of the Qatar Economic Forum’s Supreme Standing Organising Committee stated that the forum’s presence in Doha, a link between East, West, and Africa, will strengthen its strategic role for the global business community, as Doha has today become a thriving financial and commercial centre that leads dialogues and allows for the exchange of views, to enhance synergies between the world’s major players.
He also pointed out that the 2023 edition of the Qatar Economic Forum will focus on timely and critical global challenges that affect societies and economies all over the world and that one of the main lessons of all editions of the forum is to strengthen connectivity as an international community, and that the 2023 edition will revolve around a new theme focused on global growth to establish a new roadmap for global growth in this challenging economic environment.
