Dubai-based gaming startup Farcana has received a strategic investment from leading web3 company Animoca Brands to support the beta launch and continued development of its competitive multiplayer shooter.
Powered by Unreal Engine 5, Farcana will allow players to compete in skill-based tournaments with permanent Bitcoin prize pools. As one of the first AAA quality web3 games, Farcana aims to provide an engaging and rewarding gameplay experience to attract mainstream gamers.
The recent funding from Animoca Brands will enable Farcana to enhance its game further and deeply integrate with the Bitcoin ecosystem. The startup is gearing up to launch a token and release the full game to the public in early 2024.
Farcana has already garnered over 40,000 signups during initial playtests across Dubai. With Animoca’s investment and advisory support, the studio is set on cementing itself as a top gaming developer in the MENA region.
Strategic Partnership to Drive Web3 Adoption in MENA
Animoca Brands executive chairman Yat Siu highlighted the incredible traction and development progress Farcana has achieved so far.
The deal represents Animoca’s ongoing effort to foster web3 innovation in the Middle East and North Africa following similar partnerships in Saudi Arabia. With Dubai also recently launching a strategic gaming initiative and industry leaders like Farcana paving the way, the region is primed for mass adoption of blockchain gaming.
Farcana founder & CEO Ilman Shazhaev emphasized how instrumental collaborating with Animoca’s team has been in redesigning tokenomics, improving in-game economies, and crafting go-to-market plans over the past year.
Shazhaev sees this investment mark as a huge milestone as the startup prepares to release one of the top web3 games that will merge mainstream appeal with blockchain interactivity and rewards.
