The United Arab Emirates has many job opportunities in different industries offering different salaries. To understand salaries, you need to know how they’re structured and what benchmarks to look for.

By understanding how to assess your wage, you can ensure that you’re fairly compensated for your contributions to your employer.

In this article, you’ll discover steps to conduct a salary check in the UAE. From researching industry standards to leveraging online resources, you’ll gain valuable insights into determining your worth in the job market.

Mastering the art of evaluating salary empowers you to effectively advocate for your financial well-being, whether negotiating a new job offer or seeking a raise in your current position.

Rules and Regulations Related to Salary in the UAE

Rules and Regulations

Making sure you receive your salary on time is a priority in the UAE. There are clear rules that are overseen by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) to ensure this.

Even though there is no law regarding the minimum wage, the law in UAE says that your employer must pay you enough to cover your basic needs.

According to Ministerial Resolution No. 598 of 2022, your employer is supposed to pay you on time. It means that your salary should be paid from the first day of the month after the period mentioned in your contract.

If the contract doesn’t specify, payment must be made at least once a month. Delays of more than 15 days after the due date constitute a default unless otherwise mentioned in the contract.

To ensure fairness and transparency, companies registered with the MoHRE must utilize the Wages Protection System (WPS). This system directs salaries directly into employees’ bank accounts or other approved financial institutions recognized by the Central Bank.

Trends in the UAE Job Market

Trends

The 2025 UAE salary guide by Cooper Fitch reveals a robust job market, maintaining strength throughout the year.

Although there’s a slight dip in oil-related recruitment due to OPEC+ production limitations until at least 2025, non-oil sectors continue to thrive, supporting the nation’s economy.

Not to forget, unemployment has decreased from 4.3 percent in 2020 to 3.3 percent in 2022, with the introduction of unemployment insurance in January 2023 further boosting labor participation.

The report also indicates that many UAE companies expanded their workforce in the previous year, contributing to an upward trend in average salaries in Dubai. Trefor Murphy, CEO of Cooper Fitch, notes a significant rise in organizations increasing headcount in 2023 compared to previous years, with over half planning to raise remuneration in 2025.

This is good for job seekers in the Emirates, as increased demand for talent typically translates to higher salaries.

Beyond salaries, the report emphasizes the growing importance of annual bonuses and remote work flexibility in talent acquisition and retention strategies. These factors play crucial roles in influencing the decisions of UAE employees.

Empowering Your Career with Salary Checks in the UAE

Ensuring that you’re fairly compensated for your work is crucial for career growth and financial stability. By regularly checking your salary in the UAE job market, you gain valuable insights into where you stand financially and professionally.

Understanding Market Norms

Checking your salary allows you to compare your earnings with industry standards. This insight helps you determine if you’re being paid appropriately for your role and sector or not.

It also enables you to identify areas where you might be underpaid or where you could negotiate for better compensation.

Strategic Career Moves

Armed with knowledge about your worth, you can make informed decisions about your career path.

Whether you’re negotiating a raise with your current employer or exploring new job opportunities, knowing your salary range empowers you to advocate for yourself effectively.

Setting Realistic Goals

Having a clear picture of your financial landscape enables you to set achievable financial goals.

By aligning your income with your qualifications and aspirations, you can work towards improving your financial health and achieving success in your career.

Avoiding Under-compensation

Many professionals worldwide risk being underpaid due to a lack of awareness about salary norms.

By proactively checking your salary, you mitigate this risk and ensure that you’re not settling for less than you deserve.

Professional Development

Regular salary checks lay the foundation for successful professional development.

Being aware of your market value allows you to take proactive steps to enhance your skills, seek better opportunities, and advance your career in the dynamic UAE job market.
