The partnership will accelerate the all-inclusive healthcare expansion of home care services which include but are not limited to doctor home visits, telemedicine, medication delivery as well as at-home lab services for all Saudi and non-Saudi employees and their families in the private sector, decreasing expenditure, and increase the percentage of patients with a digital health record for corporates and individuals while leveraging its health tech digital platform “Metadoc”. “Parties have a common interest to formulate a joint venture ELAJ-AT HOME and assign a workforce to execute the framework for the potential collaboration. The potential collaboration is to pilot operations in the Saudi Market” said Hesham Elfeshawy, At Home Doc CEO. “ELAJ-AT HOME aims to create a global digital clinic that incorporates doctors, medical labs, and hospitals throughout the entire group’s entities in one digital platform, making quality healthcare accessible for patients everywhere.”
It is worth noting that funding in the Healthcare sector picked up in 2020 in the MENA region boosted by the pandemic-driven need for telehealth. The region witnessed a YoY growth of 250% to cross the $50M mark for the first time. 2021 followed a similar trajectory and Healthcare in MENA saw its highest funding year raising almost $100M across 50 transactions. While the world is gradually returning to normal, funding in the healthcare sector has stayed consistent with almost $90M invested across MENA-based healthcare startups in 2022.
