  • Noura Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General of the General Women’s Union, emphasised the support Emirati women have received from the UAE’s leadership and recognized Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak for her role in empowering women.
  • Sheikha Fatima’s leadership as Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union and other roles has inspired women to contribute actively to the nation’s progress, establishing her as a global model for women’s empowerment.

Emirati Women’s Day is celebrated annually on August 28. It stands as a testament to the significant role women play in the United Arab Emirates’ ongoing development. This special day honors the contributions of Emirati women who have worked tirelessly alongside men to shape the nation’s progress and future.

On this occasion, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan extended his heartfelt wishes to all Emirati women, acknowledging their vital role in the country’s journey. Through a message shared on X (formerly Twitter), he praised the dedication and integrity of Emirati women, emphasising their unwavering commitment to their families and communities.

The President highlighted that the UAE’s development would not have been possible without the relentless efforts and determination of these remarkable women. He expressed pride in their achievements, recognizing them as partners in all national work positions, working hand in hand with men to achieve the UAE’s ambitions and ensure continuous progress.

In his message, Sheikh Mohamed underscored the importance of women’s contributions to the nation’s success, noting that Emirati women have set an inspiring example of responsibility and sincerity throughout the UAE’s development journey. He honoured them for their pivotal role in shaping the nation’s progress, emphasising that their efforts are integral to the UAE’s transformation into a global leader.

Noura Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General of the General Women’s Union (GWU), echoed the President’s sentiments by highlighting the unwavering support Emirati women have received from the UAE’s wise leadership since the country’s founding.

She extended her gratitude to Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, affectionately known as the Mother of the Nation, for her steadfast support of Emirati women.

As the Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), Sheikha Fatima has played a fundamental role in empowering women and enhancing their role in society.

Al Suwaidi emphasised that Sheikha Fatima’s efforts have established her as a global model for supporting and empowering women. Her leadership has inspired countless women to seize opportunities, harness their potential, and actively contribute to the nation’s progress and well-being.

Emirati Women’s Day, she noted, serves as a celebration of the profound respect and admiration the UAE holds for its women, recognizing their invaluable contributions to the nation’s renaissance and its transformation into a global powerhouse.

Al Suwaidi extended her heartfelt appreciation to all Emirati women for their exceptional roles and pioneering contributions. She acknowledged that Emirati women have consistently demonstrated excellence, efficiency, and dedication in every endeavour, proving themselves as vital contributors to the UAE’s success.

This annual celebration serves as a reminder of the crucial role women play in shaping the UAE’s future, and it stands as a tribute to their ongoing efforts in driving the nation’s progress.
