HealthTech platform At Home Doc has raised $1.9M in Pre-Series A funding led by Elaj Group’s investment arm Tawasol Holdings, endorsed by Qatar Development Bank (QDB) and other angel investors. Founded in 2016 by Hesham Elfeshawy and Hatem ElFeshawy, At Home Doc aims to expand the reach of healthcare services in the MENA & GCC regions using innovative tech to make healthcare universally accessible and affordable through its partnership with Elaj Group by delivering a plan to use the investment for driving the startup’s operational expansion in KSA.

Ahead of December 2022, At Home Doc announced that they are partnering with Elaj Group and are set to accelerate the all-inclusive healthcare expansion of home care services in KSA. Tawasol Holdings for Financial Investments is an affiliate of Elaj Group and its investment arm. Through the strategic partnership with At Home Doc, Dr. Mohamed Hassan Amin, Elaj Group CEO aims to introduce At-Home Doc’s healthtech solutions to provide primary care that will impact their customers’, patients’, and providers’ experiences in KSA.

As a result of QDB’s previous investment in At Home Doc in 2018, They Developed “A.I.D.A”, real-time diagnosis AI for instant virtual diagnosis and supported by delivering comprehensive medical needs to your doorstep at the push of a button.

The partnership will accelerate the all-inclusive healthcare expansion of home care services which include but are not limited to doctor home visits, telemedicine, medication delivery as well as at-home lab services for all Saudi and non-Saudi employees and their families in the private sector, decreasing expenditure, and increase the percentage of patients with a digital health record for corporates and individuals while leveraging its health tech digital platform “Metadoc”. “Parties have a common interest to formulate a joint venture ELAJ-AT HOME and assign a workforce to execute the framework for the potential collaboration. The potential collaboration is to pilot operations in the Saudi Market” said Hesham Elfeshawy, At Home Doc CEO. “ELAJ-AT HOME aims to create a global digital clinic that incorporates doctors, medical labs, and hospitals throughout the entire group’s entities in one digital platform, making quality healthcare accessible for patients everywhere.”

It is worth noting that funding in the Healthcare sector picked up in 2020 in the MENA region boosted by the pandemic-driven need for telehealth. The region witnessed a YoY growth of 250% to cross the $50M mark for the first time. 2021 followed a similar trajectory and Healthcare in MENA saw its highest funding year raising almost $100M across 50 transactions. While the world is gradually returning to normal, funding in the healthcare sector has stayed consistent with almost $90M invested across MENA-based healthcare startups in 2022.
