TL;DR:
Saudi-based AI startup Newera.ai has raised $2.1 million in a pre-seed round led by venture builder Embark to expand enterprise and government AI deployments in the Kingdom, with a focus on locally hosted, regulation-compliant systems aligned with Saudi Arabia’s data protection laws.
Newera.ai, a Saudi Arabia based artificial intelligence startup, has raised $2.1 million (SAR 8 million) in a pre-seed funding round to expand its operations in the Kingdom and strengthen its research and product development capabilities.
The round was led by Embark, with participation from a group of angel investors. Newera.ai said the funding will support the rollout of AI solutions tailored to Saudi enterprises and government entities, with a focus on local deployment and regulatory compliance.
Building AI systems for regulated environments
Founded in 2023 and headquartered in Riyadh, Newera.ai develops generative and agentic AI systems designed to be deployed directly within enterprise environments. The company positions itself as an AI partner for organisations seeking to move from experimental pilots to production-ready systems.
Its offerings are built in both Arabic and English and are designed to integrate with existing enterprise infrastructure across sectors such as finance, logistics, operations and government.
A key element of the company’s approach is data localisation within Saudi Arabia, which aligns with the Kingdom’s Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL). The law, which became fully enforceable in September 2024, has increased demand for AI solutions that ensure sensitive data remains within national borders.
Venture builder-led backing
Unlike traditional venture capital firms, Embark operates as a venture builder, providing hands-on operational and strategic support alongside capital. Its involvement suggests Newera.ai will receive assistance beyond funding, including execution support and access to local enterprise networks.
Venture builders have become increasingly active in Saudi Arabia’s early-stage ecosystem, particularly in sectors such as AI and deep tech, where regulatory alignment and local execution are critical.
Founder and roadmap
Newera.ai was co-founded by Abdulrhman Alsuliman, a biomedical engineer with experience in applied machine learning and data-driven systems.
According to the company, the new capital will be used to:
- Scale deployments across Saudi Arabia
- Strengthen in-house R&D capabilities
- Advance AI tools for automation and predictive analytics
- Deepen integrations with enterprise and government systems
Part of a broader AI funding trend
The funding comes amid sustained interest in Saudi-based AI startups, as the Kingdom continues to invest heavily in digital transformation under Vision 2030. Recent months have seen capital flow into AI-driven cybersecurity, enterprise automation and Arabic-first AI platforms, reflecting growing demand for locally relevant technologies.
While modest in size, Newera.ai’s pre-seed round highlights the continued momentum in early-stage AI development in Saudi Arabia, particularly for startups focused on compliance, localisation and enterprise adoption.
