Dubai has once again been voted the number one travel destination globally by Tripadvisor users, marking the third consecutive year the glittering emirate has claimed the prestigious title.
The annual Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards highlight the locations favoured most by travellers and this year Dubai came out on top of the ‘Best of the Best’ destinations list. Less than 1% of Tripadvisor’s 8 million accommodation, restaurant and attraction listings receive this elite award, making it a remarkable achievement.
Coming in behind Dubai in the 2024 rankings were Bali, London, Hanoi, Rome, Paris and Cancun – all popular tourist hotspots but unable to outshine the allure of Dubai for the third year running.
The judging criteria for the awards take into account the quality and quantity of reviews submitted by Tripadvisor users over the past year. Dubai’s ability to consistently impress its visitors has cemented its status as the world’s premier travel destination.
According to official statistics, Dubai welcomed 12.4 million international visitors in Q3 of 2023 alone. The top sources of visitors were India, Saudi Arabia, the UK and Russia. In the first half of 2023, Dubai saw 8.55 million tourists, surpassing pre-pandemic levels and highlighting the emirate’s remarkable tourism growth.
